Bidirectional FireWire Over CAT5 Twisted Pair Interface (Pair)
The TP-300FW system is a truly unique high quality FireWire Range Extender from the Kramer TOOLS family of compact, high quality and cost effective solutions. FireWire signals inherently have a 15 foot (4.5m) distance limitation. Kramer has pioneered a solution to this distance limitation for 100Mbs Video (DV) FireWire signals with the TP-300FW. One TP-300FW will convert a FireWire signal so it can be sent over inexpensive and unshielded CAT 5 cable up to 300 feet (100m) to a second TP-300FW that will convert the FireWire signal back to its native format. Repeater/hubs, such as the Kramer VS-8FW can be used with FireWire signals to extend them up to about 263 feet. This solution requires the use of several repeater/hub products which means it can be costly and it is still limited to a maximum distance of about 263 feet. With the TP-300FW, a third TP-300FW can be added to the system and extend the overall signal range to a total of 600 feet (200m).
In fact, multiple TP-300FW's can be added to any system, each time adding up to 300 feet (100m) of operating range. Order TP-300FW for single units.
